Our partner ACCI International Missions & Relief recently released the publication of their Protecting Children in Short-Term Missions: A Guidance Manual and Toolkit for Churches and Christian Organisations, designed for those who are passionate about missions and engaging people through short-term mission (STM) teams, and who committed to pursuing God’s heart for children and vulnerable members of society in the context of global missions. Developed in collaboration with Better Volunteering Better Care, an initiative co-chaired by the Better Care Network and Save the Children UK, the principles explored in the manual are drawn from the Bible, best practice concepts, as well as development, missiology, and cross-cultural theories, specifically applied to engaging with children during short-term mission trips. The manual focuses on protecting children and upholding their best interests in STM programs and is primarily developed to reflect the most common scenario, which involves a sending and a receiving organizations working in partnership.  Before downloading the resource, we recommend reading reflections from Rebecca Nhep, ACCI’s CEO of International Programs, and an Advisory Group member of Faith to Action. Additionally, we encourage you to explore Faith to Action’s Journeys of Faith study series, including Session 5 on Short-Term Missions— a great resource for your church, university or small group.
