Transitioning to Family Care for Children

Over the last several decades, increasing evidence recognizes the limitations of residential care, such as orphanages and children’s homes, and the importance of families for the healthy development of children.

Around the world, there is a growing movement to shift or transition residential care to family-based care. Resources that were once used to build and maintain residential care are now being used to reunite children with their families and, when this is not possible, to identify and equip relative caregivers, foster parents, and adoptive parents.

Faith to Action specializes in connecting Christian organizations serving orphaned and vulnerable children with evidence-based tools, resources, coaching, and networks of support.

“We cannot do this work alone. We need to learn from those who have walked in front of us. We need to lean on those who are walking through the process with us at the same time.” – Philip Aspegren, Casa Viva
