Sunday, November 8th is Orphan Sunday, an opportunity for Christians around the world to collectively impel and activate church, community and friends to God’s call to care for the orphan. In celebration of Orphan Sunday, Faith to Action is pleased to announce the launch of our new Journeys of Faith Study Series! This series, Caring for Orphans and Vulnerable Children: A Study Guide for Journeys of Faith, provides an introduction and overview on topics related to family-based care for orphans and vulnerable children. The series was developed in response to the Journeys of Faith pilot study completed last year. In response to the feedback of pilot participants, Faith to Action developed a six-part study series, designed to support small group study accompanying Journeys of Faith: A Resource Guide for Orphan Care Ministries Helping Children in Africa & Beyond. Each of the new downloadable six sessions is engaging, educational, and interactive. Each session provides the tools, links to online resources, and information needed to engage participants through discussions, readings, videos, group activities, prayer, “on your own” homework, and additional resources for digging deeper. The six sessions are progressive, building on each other, but designed to stand alone if a group chooses to be more selective. Caring for Orphans and Vulnerable Children: A Study Guide for Journeys of Faith includes the following six sessions. For a more detailed description of each click here.
- Session 1: Who Are Orphans and Vulnerable Children?
- Session 2: The Impact of Poverty and Separation from Family Care
- Session 3: Key Strategies for Strengthening Families and Community-Based Care, Part I
- Session 4: Key Strategies for Strengthening Families and Community-Based Care, Part 2
- Session 5: Short-term Missions
- Session 6: Identifying Your Next Steps
The Journeys of Faith Study Series also includes A Facilitator’s Guide with additional resources for organizing and facilitating a group study—including useful tips, tools, and additional resources for preparation, customization, and leading a Journeys of Faith study group.
